Prairie

Architecture as a extension of the landscape
Location: Moscow region, Russia.
Total area: 620 sq.m./6673.62 sq.ft.
Date: in the process of implementation.
Team: David Merdenov, Maria Merdenova.

The concept is a modern interpretation of the American architectural classics — the famous prairie style by Frank Lloyd Wright. Emphasized horizontality, soaring roofs, natural materials, vegetation that almost gets inside — this is a landscape house, this is a part of nature.

Traditional elements of prairie architecture are complemented by panoramic glazing. Color inserts and solid masonry made of long Roman bricks are used as facade decoration. The drainage system is completely hidden so as not to disrupt the horizontal trend of the appearance.

The project configuration is dynamic, consisting of rectangular two-storey blocks. The central block is a link in the layout and serves as the main entrance to the house. It has a spacious living room with a second light.

Планировка

Functionally, the house is divided into two zones: a public one is on the ground floor and a private one is on the first floor. Downstairs there is a kitchen and a living room, two guest bedrooms, an office, a SPA area, technical rooms, a staff room and a garage for 2 cars. The first floor is occupied by five bedrooms for family members.

The aesthetics of the project lies in the harmony of architectural elements and the environment. The building looks like an organic continuation of the natural environment because of the flat roofs that rhyme with the horizon line and the natural texture that is preserved on the facing brick. Regardless of the size of the house, a person in it will feel really free.
