Edge

Edge

The concept of visual pureness
Location: a resort settlement 70 km from Berlin, Germany.
Total area: 250 sq.m./2690 sq.ft.
Date: design completed.
Team: David Merdenov, Anastasia Astakhova

The project Edge is a timeless architectural image devoid of stereotypical details and completely focused on a person. It is a person who fills the house, customizes, forms a unique space that meets his or her personal needs.

The architectural concept of the project challenges modern urbanism rethinking the traditional idea of a warm and cozy home. Here minimalism is elevated to the absolute – there is nothing superfluous. Simple shapes, straight lines, laconic interior and almost imperceptible neutral colors create a place where a person takes a break from visual noise. It is a refuge from social and informational onslaught, a place of relaxation and harmony. Unity with nature is put in the foreground: a bright and spacious house seems to dissolve into it. Glass facades create the effect of presence, contact with the environment.

Edge

Планировка

The linear layout of the house is functionally divided into three blocks: an entrance area with an office, a kitchen-living room and a sleeping block.

The living room is the largest and lightest room with panoramic glazing and light passing through. There is the closest contact with nature, which continues on the adjacent outdoor terrace.

In the bedroom, on the contrary, the most private atmosphere is created due to the blank side wall. Here, the walls give a sense of security, intimacy, and hide privacy from the world.
